Team Lead for Software Development (Products BU)

The position

Job overall purpose

  • By excellent leadership skills you will guide skilled developers, foster collaboration, and ensure that software is delivered according to space standards, while helping your teams grow and thrive.

Your Role
You’ll lead two software teams—one focused on AOCS products and one on
software for a broad range of space applications.

In close collaboration with the Engineering Manager, you will set directions for the teams, remove blockers, and ensure high-quality delivery.

Your leadership will focus on coaching, team development, and collaboration, while ensuring your teams maintain a strong understanding of software principles relevant to satellites and aerospace.

You will also have the opportunity to drive innovation in software development, working with cutting-edge technologies that shape the future of space missions.

Your tasks include:

  • Lead and coach software teams to deliver reliable, high-quality space software
  • Ensure team priorities align with project requirements and “Customer Delight”
  • Manage hiring, onboarding, offboarding, and performance evaluations
  • Foster collaboration across teams and remove operational blockers
  • Support the professional growth of your engineers through mentoring and guidance

In the initial phases, success means:

  • Building trust and understanding your team’s concerns
  • Managing daily operations efficiently and removing blockers
  • Hiring, onboarding, and integrating new team members

Longer term, you’ll take:

  • Ownership of team development and long-term planning
  • Responsibility for improving collaboration and efficiency across software teams, including international coordination
  • Leadership in implementing solutions that unlock the teams’ full potential

What You Bring

You’re an experienced software team leader with hands-on understanding of software development - from aerospace, satellite contexts or similar contexts with complexity and high quality standards.

You combine technical insight with strong leadership skills and are proficient in English, both spoken and written, confident communicating with engineers, stakeholders, and management in an international environment.

You thrive on creating collaborative, high-performing teams, removing practical blockers, and supporting your team members’ technical and professional growth.

You are motivated by working on innovative space software projects and driving your teams to excel.

You likely:

  • Hold a degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field
  • Have experience leading small to medium-sized software teams
  • Understand software principles relevant to aerospace, satellite or similar systems
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with teams and stakeholders
  • Support team development while removing blockers and fostering collaboration
