Team Lead for Hardware, Mechanical and System Engineering (Products BU)

The position

Job overall purpose

  • By excellent leadership skills you will guide skilled engineers, drive collaboration, and ensure high-quality satellite hardware and kits

Your Role

You will work at the heart of our Products BU Engineering organization, leading teams responsible for hardware, mechanical, and system engineering.

In close collaboration with the Product BU Engineering Manager, you will set direction for your teams, ensure projects meet rigorous space standards, and create an environment where engineers can develop both technically and professionally.

You will work closely with product owners and project managers to understand needs, remove blockers and make sure projects are delivered reliably and efficiently.

Your tasks include

  • Lead hardware, mechanical, and system engineering teams to deliver high- quality space products
  • Ensure development meets space standards and project requirements
  • Set team priorities and contribute to “Customer Delight” through technical excellence
  • Manage hiring, onboarding, offboarding, and performance evaluations
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks, fostering collaboration within and across teams

In the initial phases success means:

  • Building trust and understanding your team’s concerns
  • Efficiently managing daily operations and removing blockers
  • Hiring, onboarding, and integrating new colleagues

Longer term, you will take:

  • Ownership of team development and long-term planning

What You Bring

You’re an experienced engineering leader with a hands-on background in mechanics, RF/baseband or system engineering.

You combine technical insight with the ability to guide and develop a team and you are proficient in English, both spoken and written, confident communicating with engineers, stakeholders, and management in an international environment.

You thrive on creating collaborative, high-performing teams, removing practical blockers, and supporting your team members’ technical and professional growth.

You likely

  • Hold a degree in engineering or a related technical field
  • Have experience leading small to medium-sized engineering teams
  • Understand hardware, mechanical or system engineering in a complex technical context – like aerospace, satellite or simililar contexts with high quality standards
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with teams and stakeholders
  • Support team development while removing blockers and fostering collaboration
