Regional Finance Director Europe, Scan-Group

The primary function of the role is to support the Regional COO and Regional Director in our business units in Europe - as well as the country managers - with all financial related tasks incl. lifting finance through process improvements and standardization.

The European finance team in Scan-Group consist of approximately 30 employees of which the majority are located in the European Back Office Center in Gdynia, Poland.

The Regional Finance Director Europe will be a part of the Senior Finance Team in Scan-Group which consists of regional finance directors from America and from Asia as well as some senior finance specialist located in Copenhagen, USA and Singapore.

The Regional Finance Director Europe will report to Group CFO, Scan-Group with a dotted line of reference to Regional COO Shipco Transport Europe and Regional Director Scan-Shipping/Strait Air Europe & Africa.

You will be placed at the Scan-Group office in Copenhagen, Snorresgade.

Job overall purpose

• Secure a high quality Finance function of the European activities of Scan-Group

Key areas of responsibility and tasks

• Develop finance team
• Secure robust accounting processes and a solid control environment, conducting high quality monthly reporting for 35+ entities across Europe/Africa
• Plan and execute audit process for 50+ entities including year-end reporting and preparation of financial statements
• Align with Shared Service Center in Pune, India to secure use of standard processes and securing full processes ownership
• Join development of ERP system and drive implementation of developed improvements.
• Drive the annual budget process
• Prepare and join business performance reviews – monthly and quarterly
• Join compliance projects handled centrally in Scan-Group e.g. e-invoicing and SAF-T reporting
• Spearhead engagement between Finance and operation to lift financial performance
• Ad hoc analysis on regional level

You may expect 10-20 days of travel activity mainly in Poland and the European countries

Criteria of Success

• Secure a general high quality of this finance funtion
• Secure high quality of the financial support for the general managers
• Secure an efficient set-up of shared service centers in Poland and India

Critical experience

• Experienced finance manager with a strong financial toolbox in order, e.g. auditor or head of accounting

• Strong management skills and experience with long-distance management
• Strong in process optimization and you have a never-ending appetite for improvements of processes

• Ability to oversee many activities and keep calm in tense situation/periods
