Head of Engineering - BU Programs

The job
Job overall purpose:
- By excellent leadership skills, an excellent business understanding and by the ability to communicate you will secure unique results for the Business Units (BU) Programs in GOMSpace.
Key areas of responsibility:
- You will lead the Team leads of System Engineering, AOTS, Mechanical & Thermal, Software and Operations.
- Engagement with the customers.
- Define and execute the engineering strategy aligned with company goals and space industry standards - in alignment with the Chief Engineer and COO.
- Oversee full lifecycle development of space systems - from conceptual design.
- Represent the engineering function in executive leadership meetings, board discussions and with external stakeholders (partners, agencies, customers).
Key tasks:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant aerospace regulations, safety protocols, and quality standards tailored to the need of the company and customer.
- Collaborate with Product, Program Management, R&D, and Business Development teams to align technical execution with business objectives.
- Manage engineering budgets, schedules, resource allocation, and risk mitigation efforts.
- Drive the adoption of cutting-edge tools, technologies, and processes to accelerate development and improve reliability/quity.
- Driving transformation within the engineering functions to gain more efficiency, standardization etc.
- Participation in proposal work.
- Conducting regular and meaningful 1:1s to support engagement and growth for the Team leads.
- Creating the right conditions for innovation by enabling knowledge sharing, psychological safety, forward-thinking and growth mindsets.

Your profile
Critical experience:
- Years of progressive engineering experience in the aerospace or space sector.
- Years of experience in engineering leadership.
- Experience in managing complex space systems development (e.g. launch vehicles, satellites, in-orbit services) is a clear plus.
- Deep understanding of systems engineering principles and space mission architecture.
- Experience with government and commercial space programs (ESA, Space Force, commercial payload customers).
- Familiarity with agile hardware/software development processes.

- Relevant degree in Engineering (Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
